LENSES
Experience the ultimate vision upgrade with comfortable contact lenses that redefine clarity.
Whether you are looking for a more practical solution when playing sports, going out, travelling or are simply after a new look, contact lenses are a great choice for many people. There are two main types of contact lens: soft lenses made of water-containing plastic; and gas permeable (or ‘rigid gas permeable’) lenses which are less flexible.
Soft contact lenses, sometime known as daily disposables are made of flexible silicone hydrogel. They allow more oxygen to pass through to the cornea, making them healthier for the eyes.
Rigid gas permeable (RGP) contact lenses, which have been available longer than soft lenses, are smaller and lie within the corneal region. Some practitioners believe they are the best alternative for long-term, full-time wear.

Our team at Gordon Thomas Opticians is trained to assist patients in finding the best fit, comfort, and vision in contact lenses. Our free soft lens trial allows you to take the contact lenses home and try them on in your own environment to see the benefits for yourself!
The Examination
Contact lens designs have advanced rapidly in recent years, with new materials offering a variety of fitting options for correcting even the most complex prescriptions, and we have access to all of the major brands. Before we can find your perfect contacts, we need to make sure that contact lenses are a good option for you. We’ll begin with an exam to ensure we have your current eyeglass prescription. We’ll also check your general eye health to make sure you’re not ineligible for contact lenses.
The Fitting & Tutorial
Once we have your prescription and a general idea of your eye health, it’s time for measurements! We will conduct additional tests to help us determine the proper fit, which is essential for comfortable contact lenses. We will then teach you how to apply and remove your new lenses safely, as well as about hygiene and lens care. You will guided through the process of adjusting to contact lenses, making certain that you have the confidence to handle the lenses safely before you take them home.

Your eyes deserve the best care! We’ll assess your lens design, visual acuity, comfort, compliance, lid cleanliness, and overall eye health. Regular appointments every six months will keep your eyes in good shape and your lenses in top condition.
